2009 was the starting point for Michael Zähl 's collaborative development of the AM1 mixing console with producer Mark Ernestus. For Zähl Elektronik-Tontechnik, it was also a return to making custom, bespoke audio products.

Known for his work for Conny Plank's studio and the legendary band Can, Zähl now develops custom technology for notable electronic music artists. His clients include Mark Ernestus, Tobi Neumann, Ben Klock, DBridge.
